Homework for Monday, August 29th

There is no math homework for Monday, August 29th, except to study for our Math Test on Tuesday. Study guides were sent home Friday.

Students do have Spelling homework for this evening (write each word three times each).

Reading Homework...

Don't forget that each student has reading homework Monday night through Thursday night. Read and Respond sheets must be turned in so that the student receives credit for homework.
Students who complete all 4 nights of reading homework will receive a special reward from Mrs. Gray, our SFA Reading Facilitator.

Camp Read-A-Lot

"Join us as we celebrate reading at "Camp Read-a-Lot" on Friday, September 2nd at 6:00pm! There will be "Campfire Stories", "Make-n-Take Craft Tents", "Reading Tents", "Book Hikes" and more! The book fair will be open during this time! Following the Camp Read-a-Lot festivities will be an outdoor movie! Picnic table seating is available on a first come basis, or bring your own camp chairs/sleeping bags for lawn seating! The movie is free, with popcorn & drinks available for purchase!"

It's Book Fair Time!

The Scholastic Book Fair is at G.R. Hampton! All week (August 28th-September 2nd) students will have the chance to buy some really great books! Each class gets to visit the Book Fair during their regular library time, which is Tuesday afternoon for us.  The PTO is also looking for a couple more volunteers to work at the Book Fair. Contact Mrs. Anita Farmer if you're interested in helping!

Spelling Help...

I am pleased to announce that your child can now practice our spelling words at a website called Spelling City (spellingcity.com).  I will have our list uploaded each week.

To find our class page, go to http://www.spellingcity.com/ and click on the tab "Find a List".  In the search box, enter "Angela Smith", then click "Search".  From the list find the Angela Smith from Hampton Elementary. Click on my name and you will be taken to our class page.  Scroll down a bit and look for the current week's list. Click on it and you'll see our list and buttons for different spelling activities. 

Ice cream! Ice cream! We all scream for ice cream!

A variety of Schwan's ice cream bars and popsicles will be sold every Friday beginning this week.  The cost is $1 per ice cream.

Shriner's Circus Field Trip

On Thursday, August 18th, our school will be attending the Shriner's Circus at the Knox County Middle School.  We will be leaving G.R. Hampton at approximately 10:45 and returning at around 2:00.  Admission is free, but we are asking that each child bring $3 so they can get a snack and a drink while we are there.  Please make sure to send your child's permission slip by Wednesday if you have not already done so.
